Q+: A Smartphone Application to provide Aid to Your Hearing Disablities

One of the most frequently occurring disability in India, the loss of hearing, has affected around 10% of our population according to recent statistics. This translates into a staggering 120 million people with hearing deficiencies. However, when it comes to medical attention to the affected people, the ground zero results aren’t positive at all. Whether it is sheer negligence or lack of basic medical facilities, most of these people affected with hearing loss(partial/full) do not get any treatment for their disabilities and suffer as a result of it. Although there are many hearing aids available in the market, the general consensus among people is that they are too expensive to purchase and not at all financially viable. One such budding company that is trying to reverse this stereotype by aiming to provide hearing aids and medical attentions to the concerned population at a very reasonable and affordable rate is Pune based Quadio Devices Pvt Ltd. The company has recently announced the launch of an advanced Hearing aid App, namely, Q+, for Android and iOS platforms.

The Q+ app promises to be a holistic mobile-based hearing solution complete with all the features of a conventional hearing tool. The said app is supposed to be first of its kind that is ultra-advanced besides being affordable, accessible, controllable and customizable. Quadio uses the latest internet and mobile technology to push the boundaries of telemedicine and hearing care and merge the worlds of healthcare and technology.

By means of Q+ app, you can create your very own hearing aid device by means of your Smartphone and a set of ear-pieces. The company has tried to put away all the external hardware we require as part of Hearing aid devices. Instead, the app makes use of phone’s microphone to hear surrounding sounds, filters them by means of specialized algorithms and provides noise free amplified sound to the user.

The Q+ app utilizes the processing power of your Smartphone to enable it to be used as a complete and fully-functional hearing mechanism. It is designed to maximize the listening experience based on the results of a simple interactive hearing test. The app also gives you the ability to control and customize sound quality by intelligently enhancing hearing sounds and speech. With the Q+ app you can easily follow conversations using the phone headset in both quiet and noisy environments, and control the sound quality to customize it to your preference. The inbuilt hearing test in Q+ is calibrated for accuracy as per ANSI standards for audiometry.

Neeraj Dotel, CEO, Quadio Devices Pvt Ltd said,

“Hearing loss is the second largest disability in the country that affects more than 120 million lives with majority sufferers over the age of 60. There are less than 2000 practicing audiologists in India and therefore most people have never actually received treatment until their hearing has degraded severely with age. The Q+ app is a stellar example of the innovative capabilities of Quadio where our customers don’t have to shell out big bucks for hearing care and anyone with a smartphone can now have access to high-quality hearing mechanism.”

More About Q+ app:

  • When starting the app for the first time after installation, the user needs to follow some steps so as to configure the app according to the hearing requirements of the user.
  1. Firstly, you need to select the ear-phone connected to the Smartphone.
  2. Secondly, the app now needs to know the user’s experience level with use of hearing aids( Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced). After choosing the appropriate option, the app takes us to the next screen.
  3. Now the app asks us to take a hearing test or else one can enter his/her Audiogram values manually.
  4. Based on the result of the hearing test, the app accordingly configures its settings so as to provide best hearing experience to the user.

Anurag Sharma, Co-Founder and CTO Quadio Devices Pvt Ltd, said,

“It gives me extreme pleasure to introduce Q+, a hearing solution app that delivers a complete hearing experience. When we started Quadio in 2009, the objective was to come up with a hearing solution that empowered people to hear what they wanted, how they wanted and wherever they wanted. The flexibility of controls offered by a smartphone app is much more than that offered by conventional hearing aids and, along with the affordability of smartphones, the reach of app store, and the inbuilt test, this gets us closer to achieving our objective. I appreciate the hard work put in by our team in creating a wonderful amalgam of technology, intuitive design and stellar performance into a package that is Q+.”

The Q+ app is currently available for Android as well as iOS powered Smartphones.

The company is providing full version, i.e. premium version of the app completely free for 2 months.
