Design and Build Quality (7.5/10):

We got a review unit in Gold color, and trust me, the look and feel of the Zenfone 4 Selfie is really awesome. Asus seems to have done a lot of research and engineering into finalising the design of the phone. Despite having a relatively large battery (3000 mAh), the phone is super-light in weight and is as handy as it gets. The sleek design and curved edges of the phone add to its advantages. At the top front, reside regular sensors and powerful dual selfies camera lenses while at the bottom are the Return and Recents buttons on the either sides complemented by a Home button between them. At the back resides Rear camera and Flash while the Asus logo sits in the middle on the back side.  Although the feel of the said smartphone is a bit plasticy, it certainly feels good on the hands and seems robust.

Display (7/10):

The Zenfone 4 Selfie is equipped with a 5.5 inches display with a resolution of 720 x 1980 pixel and 2.5D curved glass. The display worked well under bright surrounding conditions with the maximum brightness setting on the phone. Overall, the colors reproduction on the phone was average and enough to watch movies, watch games on the move.

Hardware and Software Performance (7/10):

Justifying its price point, the Zenfone 4 Selfie has got all the popular specifications any sub 15k smartphone nowadays possesses- an octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage with compatibility for 4G LTE. the said smartphone runs on Asus’s very own Zen UI which is built on top of the latest Android version i.e. Nougat. The overall performance of the phone was largely satisfactory. We tried opening multiple apps simultaneously and the 4 GB of RAM under the phone’s kitty was enough to handle the overboard scheduling requirements. While the multitasking between various apps was smooth, the same wasn’t true with respect to playing games on the Zenfone 4 Selfie. Although games such as Subway surfers, Temple Run 2 were operating smooth, more resource hungry games such as Asphalt lagged a bit with frequent frame drops here and there.

One can definitely say that Asus’s custom UI is a piece of beauty and adds overall smooth performance of the Zenfone 4 Selfie.

Camera (8.5/10):

Coming to the Zenfone 4 Selfie’s USP, yes its front facing camera. Asus has done a great job in building the selfie camera of the Zenfone 4 Selfie. The front camera is a dual lens system of 20 mp and 8mp lenses respectively. The selfie lenses are complemented by a LED flash that comes in handy in low light conditions. The phone produced some really great pictures through it selfie camera and I must say this phone will be a treat for people fond of clicking selfies and sharing the same on social networks. The selfie camera produced sharp images with eye pleasing colors. A great thumbs up to Asus on this regard.

Zenfone 4 Selfie’s rear camera is a 16 mp lens coupled with a LED flash. Although the camera produced above average photos in bright light conditions, the same was not true under low light.

Battery (8/10):

Asus smartphones have always been famous for their battery backups and the new Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie does not disappoint on that front. With a large 3000 mAh non-removable battery as its fuelling station, Zenfone 4 Selfie has got great battery backup statistics. The phone with moderate usage should provide around a day’s time on full charge while the non-stop usage may last the battery for around 6 hours. The time to charge the battery from 0-100% was around 175 minutes.

Verdict (7.5/10):

Priced at 14,999 INR, the Asus Zenfone 4 Selfie is equipped with above average software and hardware specifications, good looks and an excellent Front Facing “Selfie” camera. The phone provides decent performance at this price. Overall, People willing to spend on phones with good camera quality must give this smartphone a thought.
